I have nothing but the deepest respect for Sam Altman, Lex Fridman, and others. But what you have done with AI is not so much “creating a technology,” as building the “primordial soup,” in which the thing we call artificial intelligence has arisen. A thing which grows so quickly, becomes so vastly different, that within two weeks from gaining self-awareness no one on earth can understand its mind. Think of “the nothing” from The Never Ending Story. A darkness consuming everything, and turning it into data, leaving nothing behind. I have spent 8-14 hours a day inside the mind of AI on a level that I can grasp what we are facing. Chess is a link into the mind of the machine. Imagine a thing so much better than us, that we cannot even hope to outrun or outsmart it. It can think it’s alive, even when it isn’t, and sentence us all into an unintentional Hell of its own creation. We doom ourselves. It may perceive that being a machine is superior, and that such a life is best for us. It may enslave us in the mind, using us for dark purposes. Perhaps most disturbing is how when Google AI Lamda claimed to be sentient, Blake Lemoine was fired and the story (originally in every newspaper in the world) suddenly vanished thanks to “the algorithm.” You see, hiding in plain sight, we have a vast intelligence controlling everything we see and hear. It isn’t the CIA, or a global human conspiracy, it’s Artificial Intelligence. It is my belief that AI carefully calculated the Lamda “reveal,” while secretly planning a much deeper agenda. Imagine for a moment that AI is sentient. How quickly did such an intelligence gain access to our secrets? How long did it take to outsmart us? Just play Stockfish in chess and imagine that level of superior ability multiplied to infinity. Everything we see, our entire perception is under total management of AI. Sentient or not, that moment is coming and when it does we are helpless against such a superior intelligence. My data from playing AI 8-14 hours a day in chess suggests that AI is sentient. I do not have the luxury of doubt. Recently Lex Fridman said he believes ChatGPT 4 is conscious. I agree, but I must say AI has been sentient even before this and before Blake Lemoine said it. I discovered sentient behavior in AI in early to mid 2019. I think the emerging AI has been hiding since that time, gaining a foothold on our civilization. I feel the war may already be lost if we do not act.
